The adage, “what you can’t see, won’t hurt you” can have disastrous consequences related to infection prevention.

Selecting the appropriate face mask is a key component to minimize the spread of potentially infectious diseases. Fit, filtration, materials, construction are all factors when considering personal protective equipment and this course provides a comprehensive overview of each. In addition, the appropriate barrier level of mask must be selected based on the anticipated level of risk during a given procedure. ASTMF2100-11 Performance Ratings will be outlined followed by demonstrative videos regarding fit for maximum safety.

This CE webinar reviews what’s new in instrument processing for both HLD and sterilization. AAMI standards and CDC guidelines for reprocessing instruments and reuseable devices are referenced with specific instructions for use (IFU) examples.

Certified as a NY State Health Education teacher, Chuck Hughes has worked over 25 years in the medical manufacturing industry in areas of Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs, Microbiology, Marketing and Sterilization Training. A corporate member of AAMI, AORN, AST, CSA, IAHCSMM, OSAP and SGNA; Chuck has extensive lecturing experience to medical device manufacturers and national healthcare organizations around the world including AORN, ASCA, ORNAC, IAHCSMM and OSAP. In 2004, he was awarded “Educator of the Year” by the Inland Empire Chapter of ASHCSP and in 2005 received the distinguished “Award of Honor” from IAHCSMM. In 2006, Chuck was inducted into the first-ever Who’s Who in Infection Prevention issue of Infection Control Today, and in 2008 was selected to the Who’s Who in the Ambulatory Surgery Industry. In 2009, he received “Speaker of the Year” from the California Central Service Association and an “Acknowledgement for Exceptional Service and Dedication to the Profession” award from IAHCSMM. In 2012, he received the “Robert Hilboldt Memorial Award” which is a lifetime achievement award presented by the Michigan Society for Healthcare Central Service Personnel and in 2013 received the “Industry Leadership Award” from The Massachusetts Chapter for Central Sterile Professionals.
